9 Squared Launches Exclusive Content from Fox TV's American Dad
Denver, CO - September 6, 2005 - All the irreverence and offbeat humor that keeps audiences glued to FOX's new hit animated comedy American Dad every Sunday night is coming to the mobile space. Leading mobile phones content provider 9 Squared, Inc. has partnered exclusively with 20th Century Fox Television's Fox Mobile Entertainment unit to introduce a line of mobile entertainment products inspired by the out-of-the-box success, American Dad, and will distribute a collection of original American Dad real music ringtones, voice ringers, ringback tones, wallpapers, games and voicemail greetings. As part of the deal, 9 Squared and FOX will also join forces to promote American Dad mobile content in television, radio and print campaigns.
From the producers of Family Guy and its creative mastermind Seth MacFarlane, American Dad revolves around STAN SMITH (MacFarlane), a CIA agent based in Langley Falls, VA, who is an undisputed weapons expert and proud family man. Stan's wife is the sweet, Edith Bunker-esque FRANCINE (Wendy Schaal), who has carefully hidden her party-girl personality for the sake of the conservative man she loves. Stan is constantly butting heads with his ultra-liberal 18-year-old daughter, HAYLEY (Rachael MacFarlane), who is forced to go through an airport-style security check every time she comes home from a day of Women's Studies classes at the local community college. Hayley's 13-year-old brother is the hapless, geeky STEVE (Scott Grimes), a kid who seems to be on the verge of puberty, but can't quite make it past the squeaky awkwardness. The Smith household is rounded out by two rather unconventional members. There's ROGER (Seth MacFarlane), the sarcastic space alien Stan rescued from Area 51 who lives in the Smiths' attic; and KLAUS (Dee Bradley Baker), a lascivious, German-speaking goldfish Ð the result of a CIA experiment gone seriously wrong. Currently airing on Fox at 9:30 every Sunday after Family Guy, American Dad consistently finishes first in its time slot among Adults 18-49, 18-34 and teens, and averages 6 million viewers each week.
9 Squared will distribute the American Dad mobile phone content through a number of distribution channels, including major carrier storefronts and 9 Squared branded portals like RingTone JukeBox™ and FlixTones™. American Dad content will join other movie properties that are exclusively distributed through 9 Squared's content platform, like Fox's Office Space and Paramount's Tommy Boy.
"This partnership between Fox and 9 Squared, Inc. represents a great opportunity to bring a wide range of mobile content to the dedicated fans of American Dad." commented Brian Casazza, 9 Squared's COO.
Added Fox Mobile Entertainment President Lucy Hood, "This partnership reflects 20th Century Fox's strategy of both using wireless to expand and promote our popular franchises like American Dad and to innovate and explore the ways we can program and create unique content for this important, emerging new medium."
